HEADLINER KID ROCK
Actor and musician Kid Rock will lead the parade as this year’s Grand Marshal and headlining performer. You don’t want to miss his legendary high energy show at the Endymion Extravaganza in the Superdome, immediately following the parade.
Kid Rock is known for his high energy live performances and his over-the-top hip-hop rock musical style, which have helped him sell over 25 million records worldwide. He was given his stage name by African American club goers who dubbed him "Kid Rock" after they said they enjoyed watching "that white kid rock."
In 1998, the rap-metal music scene was booming with artists such as Korn, Rage Against the Machine and Limp Bizkit, Kid got a break when Atlantic Records signed him. He released his debut mainstream album Devil without a Cause, which sold 11 million albums and contained two #1 hit singles, Bawitdaba and Cowboy.
In 2001 he released Cocky which went multi-platinum thanks to the crossover hit "Picture" with Sheryl Crow. Initially, neither Sheryl nor Kid’s record companies wanted anything to do with “Picture”. But 22 records companies passed on the Beatles before Capitol took a chance on them!
Currently Kid Rock is enjoying huge success with his latest release Rock & Roll Jesus, featuring the third single, All Summer Long. The album has been certified double platinum in the U.S. and gold in Canada.
